Dear Dream Tending Community,

Last week we explored ways of opening your curious mind. Now we are ready to journey into deeper realms of consciousness. Let’s begin your personal journey today!

I have found that the antidote to being disconnected from your soul’s calling is to go “underground,” into the realms of the deep imagination. Here is where you can discover the curiosities that the logical mind cannot explain. Jung named these revelations, numinous. These are the healing forces that originate in the deep psyche. I will be offering additional applied tools and methods of taking this journey in the upcoming Imagination Matrix Workshop.

Getting started:

  • Journeying into deep imagination begins with centering yourself and bringing awareness to your breathing. Take a few minutes to slow down. Disengage from the external world and come inside—to yourself.
  • Now, imagine that you have roots extending down from your body connecting you to the earth. Ground. Experience your presence, your personal rhythm.
  • Any journey into deep consciousness requires a guide, a supportive companion. This may be a trusted friend, an elder, a mentor, a wise teacher or a family member like a supportive grandparent, aunt, uncle. It may even be a protective tree or animal. Invite the imaginal presence of this Soul Companion to accompany you on the journey.
  • Pause. Take a moment to find your portal, a place of entrance. This may be a place familiar to you either from adult life or from your childhood. This memorable place will serve as your gateway into the inner worlds. When you are ready and only when you are ready, with your supportive companion at your side, enter the portal that leads to deeper consciousness.
  • Go slowly at first and start with simple steps. Don’t be in a hurry to reach the bottom. Take the time to notice what greets you here. Find a landing place and look about. When ready, return the same way that you came in.
  • Remember both what you saw and what you experienced. Consider writing down some “field notes” or making a sketch. As a daily practice, consciousness continues to expand and present its wonder and offer resources for wellbeing.

Next week, I will describe additional tools useful in continuing your journeying. For those coming to Switzerland with us and/or attending the Imagination Matrix Workshop in July, these practices will be particularly beneficial. For each of us in our extended community, let’s support one another and journey ever deeper. The healing powers of imagination will nurture both body and soul.

Warmly,

Steve
