Dear Dream Tending and Imagination Community,

To live a life enriched by a curious mind animates both body and spirit. Since I was a little boy, I’ve been curious about my dreams. As I grew older, my curiosity extended to waking life, as if the world was a dream. What I have found over the decades is that both my professional and social life are enhanced when I host curiosity.
I was reflecting on this phenomenon today as I was making an otherwise routine trip to the store. Instead of taking the familiar route, you know, the most efficient way, the course that is now coded into my internal GPS, I did something very different. This morning, rather than going on automatic pilot, I drove on the back roads, through neighborhoods that were unfamiliar to me. Oh my. Everything slowed down, and I took lots of time to notice. A quiet joy filled my being. I remembered—the world waits to be met by our curiosity. The spirits of place, the souls of things, the life sparks of creatures, including people, awaken when met by our curiosity. . .
I support you in taking at least 40 minutes walking or driving on the “path less traveled.” Open your curiosity. Notice who and what greets you here.
Until next Tuesday . . .
In the dreamtime,
Steve

“I think, at a child’s birth, if a mother could ask a fairy godmother to endow it with the most useful gift, that gift would be curiosity.”

― Eleanor Roosevelt
