Dear Dream Tending and Deep Imagination Community,

Today’s Tending Tuesday is brought to you by Kelly Carlin Dream Tending Mentor, member of The Academy of Imaginal Arts and Sciences and Founder of Humans on the Verge.

For the last 25 years, in both my personal life and professional work, I have focused on unleashing more and more of my self-expression – you know, being able to find and trust my voice. Having been deeply immersed in Dream Tending now for five years, I’ve noticed how my dreams have been a key ingredient in my journey.

I usually know it’s a dream about free expression by the figure that appears. For me that figure may be my father (a bold truth teller in his life and a figure who I hid my truth from at times). Or the figure may be an artist that I admire for their truth telling like David Crosby (a frequent visitor), or a figure who displays a general sense of not giving a damn what the world thinks (I often have large cats in my dreams).

Using the flow of Association, Amplification and then Illumination, I allow myself to dig into the personal, archetypal and imaginal fields of perception and interpretation.

The personal associations can open a dialogue with the figure when I want. I see this figure, like my dad, as someone I can now freely talk to, or I can “borrow” his energy.  I feel as if I’m rearranging the dynamics of my inner family into something more mature and embodied.

The collective amplification I do can take me to a place internally that allows me to use the figure as a mentor, like a wise elder. Letting their power to see me differently than I do to free me from my limitations.

The deep Illumination process allows me to open into the unknown and follow the figure and my imagination into scenes and realms beyond the dream space itself to allow me to enter a more transcendent and non-dual perspective. I always feel like this part of the process works beyond language and allows my physiology to be reset to a new vibration.

  • How do the dream figures relate to your sense of permission to express yourself through your relationships and roles?
  • What energy is the symbol or archetype offering me?
  • What is it like to just embody the energy? Let it work on my physiology.

I invite you to seed your dreams this week with the potential for you to discover, illuminate and inspire you to find your voice and use it in the world. The world needs you.

Best,
Kelly Carlin
