I have found that marinating a relationship with your dream life can be integral to physical health. In many instances, dream images have inherent healing properties. They function as imaginal medicines that can be used in adjunctive ways in the treatment of physical illness. I have developed methods to activate the healing properties found in dreams. I have found that working with the healing power of dreams is effective in preventing and treating illness and serve as a potent adjunct to an array of medical treatments.

Using dream images as medicines works because the body is always dreaming. When we have an upset stomach, a headache, or a more serious physical affliction the body feels the distress and represents the condition in the images of dreams. As we learn to tend dreams in a somatic way – that is, as messages from our physical body – we view the figures, actions, and feelings in dreams as a commentary about our physical condition. Dreams become a kind of early warning system, often telling of an illness before we are faced with actual symptoms. Dreams also speak to us about the body’s capacities to heal. The same bodily intelligence that knows how to fight off an infection or generate new cells can also use dream imagery to give us clues about how to treat whatever ails us. As a complementary treatment the healing power found in dreams is a potent resource.

Over the many years of offering Dream Tending with people suffering from physical afflictions I have developed ways of engaging the healing forces in dreams. I have named this the Dream Tending Healing System and it is rooted in both early Greek Asklepion healing traditions and in best practices found in contemporary homeopathic medicine. At our Introduction to Dream Tending workshop, I will offer case examples, a skills-set, along with a live demonstration to assist you in getting started in discovering the imaginal medicines alive in dreams. These tools can support your healing journey and wellbeing.

Warmly,

Steve

A quote that resonated with me this week…

“Do whatever brings you to life, then. Follow your fascinations, obsessions, and compulsions. Trust them. Create whatever causes a revolution in your heart.”
