OPUS Odyssey 2027

Imaginal Psychology – An Exploration of Dream and Myth Through Greece

The call goes out, and the odyssey begins
JUNE 9 – 20, 2027

What deep-seated truth is calling you home to the ancient world to explore the healing and dream time of that ancestry? We invite you to rediscover the medicines of the soul on a journey to Greece, one of the birthplaces of dream as medicine and depth psychology. OPUS is leading a trip through Greece in 2027, hosted by our sister organization, Dream Tending. This will be an immersion experience working with mythology and dream within the historical context of ancient Europe; an Odyssey exploring the underpinnings of Greek mythology and how it informs depth psychology today.
We will visit the healing sanctuaries of the ancient world, immersing ourselves in the homeopathic medicine of that landscape. Anchored in the teaching of the elders of OPUS, and walking with them, each participant will have the opportunity to tap into their own healing resources through an immersive Dream Tending experience. Here, we can ask: How is my soul’s calling unfolding in answer to the world’s dream? Together, we will move with curiosity, adventure, and play, discovering dream-tending methods for listening to the world’s dream and the medicines of the soul. We hope you can join us on this odyssey to a home place where ancient medicines of the soul evolved.

On this trip, we will:

  • Engage in the historical landscapes of Greece.
  • Learn about the tools and techniques of ancient techniques and their relation to modern medicinal practices.
  • Sit with ancient Asclepian practices to engage dreams in healing.
  • Enjoy engaging lectures from a leading professor and noted author of Imaginal and Depth psychology. In these lectures, we will, in part, discover the intellectual history of image as medicine and the importance of James Hillman’s work in this evolution.
  • Sit with the wounding and healing of the world through dream practices.
  • Tend to dream as we travel to ancient historical sites and temples.
  • Engage in an intimate way with the goddess of the ancient world, through connection to Maria Gimbutas’s work.
  • Immerse ourselves firsthand on the Island of Crete, at the site of one of the myths that Joseph Campbell engages with, the Myth of King Minos and the Minotaur.
  • Visit the Acropolis and Archaeological Museum.
  • Visit the Sanctuary of Asclepius, Epidaurus.
  • Visit Delphi, a site of the Oracle.
  • Visit the sacred shrine of Panagia (Virgin Mary) on the island of Tinos.
